Laurel Mountain Mustang
Selling 2nd hand parts as new!

Bought a brand new 65 Mustang power steering ram from Laurel Mountain Mustang from their internet website! Payed $104.00 US for the part and $51.95 for the shipping to Adelaide Australia! Took ages to get it, when it arrived at my post office the box was leaking oil and I mean alot of oil!!! The guy at the post office also was concerned and took some photos as this is a chemical risk to staff he said.

I got home took it out of the box and it was leaking a lot of oil into the plastic bag it was in.

Once out the unit looked damaged and scratched with paint missing off the unit, also the ram appeared to have been pre used or a return part asThe unit is scratched all over, the paint is peeling off all over the unit either from damage prior to packing or from the oil which seems to have penetrated all of the paint and looks like it will all come off soon. So yes it does appear to be a return part!!!

I say this because of the oil and and the bent split pin holding the castle nut. New ram does not have oil in it, just assembly lube and not enough to leak, where as a new part would have the washers and pins in a separate bag. Also the threads where the oil lines go in the end of the ram they are marked!!! And the bolt end thread is bured!!!

I rang them they gave me an email and asked me to send photos, which I did, I got a reply saying that they dont sell return parts and that the oil is from the part being pressured tested by the manufacturer!!!

I took further photos with another email stating that I wanted another part or refund as I payed for a new part not returned part!

I have not heard from the person I contacted so I am taking this furhter! Buyer beware!!!
