Ted Shlachter had my Jaguar for 16 days and charged me 1086.39 to replace the fuel pump. He had it towed to another repair shop without my authorization, and refused to tell me where it was towed to or the name of the towing company. I called nearly every day and was told that it was bad gas, or it was the mass air flow, or they were waiting on the part to come in from New Jersey, or that they tried to put 2 mass air flow devices on an neither one worked, then I was told a jag specialist was coming out to look at it. The next day I was told that it had be towed to a specialist.
I asked if I was responsible for those charges and the mechanic said no they were taking care of it. I kept asking while they were waiting for parts to come in if they looked at the AC or elect. Yet. Charles said no he wanted to get the main problem taken care of first, then they would take care of the AC & elect. When I picked my jag on the 25th Charles said to bring it back on Monday and he would finish the AC and Elect, but I should test drive it for a day and let him know how it runs. I paid him the entire bill at that time, based on his promise to finish it on Monday. When I go home, I noticed there was body damage and the jaguar ornaments were missing. I called Ted Shlachter on the phone on the 26th and he immediately said bring it in in the morning and we'll take care of it.
He acknowledged that when the tow company brought it back he saw the damage and called the tow company, saying they were going to have to use their insurance. The tow company denied responsibilty. So Ted Schlachter did a 180 and told me I brought it in that way, because it was a salvaged vehicle. But I never told him that I bought it that way and that I bought it from a dealership in beautiful condition. I told him it wasn't brought in that way and that I have only owned the car for 2 months and he had it for 3 weeks of that time. He then told me to get off his property and that he was refusing service to me.
I said he still had to fix my AC and electrical and that I already paid for it. He said he wasn't going to, so I requested my money back and he said no then told me to have a nice day and turned around a left. The next day my car broke down with the same problem. I called him and he said he wasn't going to honor his warranty unless I brought the vehicle to him to repair. And demanded that I put my request for the name of the tow company and other shop in writing. When I said I would stop by for a copy of my invoices today, he said "no, what you are going to do today is write me a letter stating that you are refusing to bring you car back for me in order to honor the warranty" I put my request in writing, without mentioning the warranty, and called for a police stand by and brought for of my friends (2 male, 2 female) as witnesses.
As we waited on the sidewalk for the police, Ted Shlachter kept coming over and intimidating us. My friend C was facing towards the street but the heel of his left foot extended about a half inch over the sidewalk onto the grass, and he told him to get off his property. Then he came out again and asked my other friend what his name was and he told him it was W. When the police arrived, 3 police officers also observed Ted Shlachter's hostility.
I gave Ted Shlachter my request and the police asked how long he was going to be. He said 10 minutes. He came back 10 minutes later with the business card of the tow company, the address of & Cars and a Copy of the Department of Planning and Building Business license number. He told me to supeona him for the invoices and parts. I called the other shop, and found out my jag was there for 3 days, and that Ted paid this shop with a credit card.
The other shop said they would be happy to give me copies of their invoices. They told that they are an independent service that only uses genuine jaguar parts and could have fixed my car out the door for $750.00
