Ripoff, selling a vechile that has problems and not taking care of it

On Aug. 27th 2004 my wife and I went to see what they had at Dan Nelsons in Des Moines, Ia. We was approached by a salesman Ron Anderson. We told him we was just looking but we seen a 1996 Fordwindstar van we liked and took for test drive around block. We made up the paper work and took the van home, on the way home 27 miles down the road the van started to putt like it wasn't getting fuel. I pulled over and called Dan Nelson and spoke with ron told him the problem. He came and got us, took us home and said they would tow van in.

On Saturday they called and said they replaced the altnator and battery. On the way home I noticed the oil light was comming on at a idle and going off when we took off. So i called Ron again and told him the problem. He said drive it over weekend and let us know,

On Monday we was heading to work and the check engine light came on along with the oil light still at idle, so I dropped the van off at the lot and picked up a loaner auto, Monday afternoon I called and they said it would not be done till Tuesday,

On Tuesday I called and they said we have a story to tell you and the van would need a new engine. And that it would be a couple weeks before the van would be done. I said fine this is done at no cost to me correct, they responded yes. I said ok do it.

On Thursday we Stopped by and unloaded the trade in we had and they said nothing about the van.

On Friday they called and said the van was done. I called them back and they said that the head mechinic said it didn't need a new engine and they poured fuel injector cleaner in it to clean

I asked is this going to fix the problem or prolong it, they said I couldn't tell you I would have to talk to the person on Monday. I said fine.

On that Monday Sue Ellen said that she was told that it needed new engine by the mechinic that worked on it and the head guy came down and drove it said there was nothing wrong with it.

I had siad to myself i better check everything else looked at before it gets to late so i had a couple questions for the head mech. I made a appoinment to meet with him.

In the mean time the check engine light came on again so I stopped by to see if they would look at. They said if I wanted to leave it, I said I would need a loaner again, they said they had nothing, this was on a Monday,

On Tuesday I stopped by again they had no time to look at they said and no rentals, and i had set up a appointment with yugo, I said well will you look at or hook up to tell me whats wrong they said they had no time.

I met with yugo {head mech} and explained the problem he said drop some fuel ing. Cleaner it it and he sugg. To use double they require on can. And drop the fuel so if it says mix with 20 gallons, nix it with 10. I knew that wasn't right.

So I guess the bottom line is the check engine light is still a problem, the salesman Ron said they did a 139 point check on van, I asked to see report and never did get to see it. The van is suppose to have a waranty why not get it fixed?

Did they really do?
