Thomas Tire
Ripped me off over $6,000.00 - 3 1/2 years Chrysler Sebring LXI

I bought a 1997 Chrysler Sebring LXI in December at Asheboro Nissan. I had problems with it within the first 2 weeks and Asheboro Nissan told me that it was my problem since they didn't sell me a warranty with the car.

I took the car to Thomas Tire in Asheboro, NC for all repairs.in the 3 1/2 years that I have owned the car, I have receipts totalling more than $6,000 worth of repairs, most of which were performed by Thomas Tire.

Several weeks ago, my check engine light was on again. Thomas Tire told me that code 306 (cylinder #6 misfire) showed up on the engine scan and that a tune-up would fix the problem. They charged me $362.23 for spark plugs & plug wires. The check engine light came on the next day. I took the car back to Thomas Tire and they told me it needed a distributor cap and rotor button which they charged me $80.14. The next day the check engine light came on again!!!

Thomas Tire told me to bring it back but at this point I was severely pissed off and took the car for a free check engine scan at Autozone. Now 3 codes are showing up! 300,301, & 306!!!

I took the car and went to a few car lots (going to trade it in!) but the check engine light was still on. I went home and disconnected the battery for about a minute (a local mechanic told me to do this to reset the check engine light). Check engine light went out! On my way to work the next day the car cut off on me everytime I stopped so I took it back to Thomas Tire. They didn't want to look at it again but finally agreed. A few hours later they call to tell me that a switch needs to be reset by the Chrysler auto tech and that will stop the car from cutting off on me. At 4:00 pm I talk to them when I am leaving work and they tell me that the car is running good enough for me to come and get it and trade it in (or whatever I wish to do).

I picked the car up and before I got home, I was sitting on the side of the road. After having it towed to my house, a local mechanic diagnosed the car as the car had jumped timing. After getting the timing belt off it was found that the water pump had locked up and caused it to jump timing. This still did not fix the car. After further work, the mechanic realized that when the water pump locked up and it jumped timing that it caused a major problem cracked head or bent piston. The 3 rear cylinders were not getting compression.

I ended up having to purchase a used motor from a salvage yard and have it put in my car. My problem is that if Thomas Tire had not told me to drive the car, I would never had to have a motor put in the car!!! Their misdiagnosis cost me the tune-up charges and new motor charges, when it would have only been a water pump if they had caught the problem in time. Is there anything I can do???

Help!!!
