Sales Management Made me REBUY my original Trade

I bought a used Corvette on 6-27-12 and traded in my truck, which I owned outright and had just paid off the month before. First, they low balled me on my trade offering only 9K on a truck worth about 15K. After telling them I would need time to think about the deal overnight, multiple times, they came back to me each time with better offers. The final one being that of 11k on the trade and a much better interest rate to entice me to stay and sign. It worked. I signed the deal. I still feel that they made me a very reasonable and fair offer on this original purchase so this is not my problem.

I went home, however, sick to my stomach and felt as though I made a major mistake. I bought a car that was impractical and too expensive and now had a payment again b/c I impulse shopped.

12 hours later I returned begging them to please work with me to get me back into my truck. I admitted that I made a mistake but was more than willing to compensate them for their time if they were willing to be reasonable and work with me to help put me back in my truck. My paperwork had not yet been submitted to the bank nor had my trade even been serviced. They could have very easily worked with me. I had purchased a Corvette from them in the past worth 60K and really thought they would take that into consideration for possible future business. I was wrong.

My offer was to provide them with their dealer fees from the trade on the 27th and I was also willing to pay a little on top so they could claim a profit of some sort. Everyone could have left happy. I was thinking around 2500.00 out the door would be reasonable. They rejected my offer and basically told me I would need to trade in the corvette which I had just purchased 12 hours before and rebuy my truck. They wrote it up like a regular trade and came back with a price of 7400.00, out the door, to get my truck back. WOW! 7400.00 to buy back a truck that I just owned the night before.

My next offer was 4K out the door. That's 4K in profit for them on a deal they just made money on the night before. I was desperate to get back into my truck which, again, I owned outright. They could have done this and been very happy. It was actually more money than they had made off of me on the original deal. Again, rejected.

Insulted at this point I went to upper management. They weren't interested and continued to use the "It's just business" line. It was also stated to me that they thought I might be trying to take my truck back so I could get a better deal elsewhere, hence the lifted price. I mentioned to them, multiple times, I just wanted my truck back and felt that getting into a payment again was a bad decision on my part since I had the truck paid off. I asked them again to please be reasonable so that we could all leave happy.

Overall, after all the dealer fees and a bunch of other number fiddling they charged me 6K total to get my truck back, out the door. They claim that the owner would not budge past 6K. So, I paid 16K last month to pay my truck off, made a mistake, and that mistake cost me another 6K on my truck today.

This is a company that advertises in their showroom "100 percent customer satisfaction". Well, I am 100 percent something, but it ain't satisfied. I feel that New Smyrna Chevy took advantage of a very common mistake. I made a BAD purchase, admitted fault which alot of people don't do, tried to work out a reasonable solution with them, but their Upper Sales Managment refused to be fair or reasonable and took advantage of that situation.

To be clear, I am not upset that NSB Chevy made me re-trade out. I AM UPSET with the AMOUNT of money they charged me. That amount was UNFAIR, UNREASONABLE, and QUESTIONABLE. I am now out an additional 6K on a truck that I already owned outright the evening before, ALL IN THE NAME OF SOME PROFIT.

I'm not done with this issue. I have every intention of looking into whether or not this would be considered illegal. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it. I feel completely used and taken advantage of.
