Ripoff repossessed paid for pickup truck by "having no proof of payment", but cashed our checks

My husband and I purchased a 2002 Ford powerstroke through Wells Fargo. We opened a checking account with them to deposit the money for a direct draft payment. We also signed for our son the purchase a Dodge diesel from them and it was to be paid for with a coupon book.

The son was stomped by a horse, had surgery on his broken leg, and could not make the full payment. They promised to work with him, deferring one payment and reducing the others for the required time for him to heal. They did nothing and harrassed us almost daily about the payments. Time frame—May to October.

They began to draft the dodge payment and the Ford payment, causing the mortgage payment to bounce. I closed the account and began paying for the Ford by check from another bank. We were promised a coupon book, but it never arrived and I had to pay at the local bank.

When school started, I was teaching and could not get to the bank before they closed.in Sept, I paid at the drive-thru on Sat. A.M.

I never got a payment off for Oct.in Nov, I paid Oct. Nov. And Dec. All in one check. I had a paper tape showing the amount paid.

In Dec. An man came to the house, and said he had to repossess the truck. I showed him the reciept and he said he checked the VIN and it was the wrong truck number anyway.

He came back after we went to bed and took the truck. They didn't reposses the Dodge because of its make and mileage—they could get more for the Ford.

They finally took the Dodge, too.

They sold them and now we owe them $12,000 on the Ford and $15,000 on the Dodge and they call day and night. They got our cell phone numbers and call us at work.

They never found our money and they are going to report the money we owe to the IRS as income, but we don't have it or a truck and not a satisfactory solution at all.

One week the new telemarketer debt collector that called found the record that we had paid and wanted to know if he had passed the training exercise. My husband told him it wasn't a training exercise and asked for a name and number. The young man hung up.
