On April 20, I contacted Moises Mondragon at Texas Direct Auto about a vehicle we were interested in purchasing. Since we would be coming to Houston from another city we wanted to be sure the vehicle would be available when we arrived and were advised we would need to make a $500 deposit to guarantee that.
We stated we wanted to come to see it immediately but were advised it would not be available until Monday the 23rd since it was in for some mechanical repair. We said we would come see it Monday but if it would not be available by then to call us by close of business on Saturday.
When no call came by Saturday evening we made plans to make the trip to Houston on Monday. When we were about half way to Houston we received a call from Mr. Mondragon advising us the car was still not ready and we would not be able to see it, let alone drive it or have it inspected. Naturally we were very upset by this turn of events and advised him we would not be willing to make another trip to Houston and that we wanted a refund of our deposit.
He said he would "put that in process" and we returned home. However, as of this writing it has been 10 days since then and after numerous phone calls and emails, all without response, we have as yet received no refund.
We believe that we have been the victims of what can only be described as the outright theft of our money after their failure to perform on our arrangement to see this car. This is a very disreputable business and I would not recommend them to any one. We are a retired couple and live on a fixed income and can ill afford the loss of $500 with nothing in return.
