My girl-friend got a phone call from Federated Warranty back in September. They sweet talked her in to buying a warranty from them for her car (which wasn't even her's, it was her father's car) She talked to her father a couple days later and he told her to call and cancell. She did... OR SO SHE THOUGHT!!! Being a young girl who really didn't keep track of her bank statments and balances, was unaware of a company called MEPCO that was deducting a little over $100/month from her checking account (the price of the warranty).
In April she closed her bank account, and thats when she got a notice from MEPCO looking for $. I called MEPCO to find out who they were and why they have been taking money from her account. Turns out the price of the warranty was financed by MEPCO, they had no idea the account had been cancelled. They gave me the phone number to Federated Warranty. I called Federated, they said the account was cancelled and the problem is with MEPCO, I called MEPCO back they say they never got word from Federated, after being tossed around for about a week, I began to get angery (who wouldn't) I finally got somewhere, a women named Brenda who works for National Administrative Solutions or something like that, bought the accout from Federated Warranty (So now there is a 3rd company involved) She said that her company will refund the money to MEPCO at the end of June '04, and then MEPCO will in return refund my girl-friend.
The end of June passed, and a few weeks in to July. I called ALL THREE COMPANIES back, NO ONE had any idea what I was talking about. MEPCO turned out to be the RUDEST of them all. "This is not our problem. We have nothing in writting cancelling this account" Well. They never had anything in writting to begin this account, but that didn't stop them. After fighting non stop for 3 hours between 3 differant companies I finally got a mailing address for the 1 person who I'd have to WRITE a letter to (NO PHONE #) in order to get a refund. I just sent a letter to him, but not enough time has passed to hear back. I was also informed by MEPCO that a lot of people have been having problems with Federated Warranty giving them a refund. Please STAY AWAY from any of these companies for your own good
& if anyone ever calls to sell you anything at all ever...
Say no, and tell them to take your number
