On March 19, I left my car at the Butch Oustalet Ford service department to have it looked at. I explained to the service advisor that during right turns the car would make clicking/popping noises which came from the front of the car. Later that day, the service advisor called me and stated that I needed the steering links and the left cv axle replaced. He quoted me a price of nearly $800.
Being suspicious of what he was telling me, I decided not to have them do the repair. The next day, I took my car to another repair center to have it looked at. Later, the shop called me and said that I needed the sway bar links replaced and would cost $220. They also said there was nothing wrong with my cv axles. I told them to go ahead and do the repair. After the repair, my car did not make any more noises. The problem had been fixed!
I do not believe for a second that the factory-trained technician at Butch Oustlet Ford made a mistake when he said I needed a new cv axle. I truly believe they were attempting to charge me for a repair that I did not need. Luckily I took my car to another shop that provided me with honest work. I saved myself over $500 by not allowing myself be ripped-off by the service dept. At Butch Oustalet Ford.
Be vary wary when dealing with these people. If you are suspicious, take your car somewhere else.
