Bob Lamphere's Beaverton Honda Yamaha
Beaverton Honda Yamaha ripoff Bob Lamphere Stolen Goods Being Sold Here!

June 26th I looked at a 2002 Honda, VTX 1800 Retro, it was a new bike never titeled with. 09 miles on the bike. Honda has a promotion going to help move these bikes. If you purchase a 2002 or 2003 model year you get $2000.00 in Honda bucks to use towards accessories.

If you purchase a 2004 model year the incentive is $1000.00. I was told on June 26th the purchase price for the bike I wanted was $9,999.00 I had just had foot surgery and was not able to ride so I asked how long that price was good for and the sales person told me that was the price for the 2002's because they were trying to clear them out. He (Jim) also informed me of the $2000.00 incentive for accessories.

I went in search of a way to get this bike home but did not purchase at this time, I was called on June 27th and was asked if I was sill wanting the bike and I said yes I would be able to pick it up on Wednesday June 30th, so at that time I was told they would have it in the back warehouse with my name on it and it would be ready to go.

I called Wednesday morning to speak with Jim, he was off so the put me through to another saleperson. I told him I did not want to finance the bike and asked if I needed a cashier's check or if I could write a personal check. Since I was a return customer and had purchased a motorcycle from them as well as many accessories in the past three years it would not be a problem for me to write a check. Besides they can call to verify funds.

Once inside the showroom, it took over an hour to get helped, they were not able to locate the bike. Finally they did and wanted to get the financing paperwork started. I said no I am not wanting to finance the bike, so the next question was how do you plan to pay for the bike. I told him with a personal check. So the salesman took all the preliminary paperwork he had done, my driver's lisence and insurance information as well as a check and the name of a contact at the credit union that would verify funds.

The sales manager (Calvin) sent the salesman back out about 30 minutes later and had him tell me that they could not acept a personal check, that I would have to finance the bike or go get the cash from a bank. It is now 4pm and if you know the Portland Beaverton area traffic stinks at this time of day. Needless to say I drove across town to get a cashier's check from my credit union.

I arrived back at the dealership at 5:20pm only to have to sit until 7:00 pm to get in to sit with Calvin so that he could draft the final paperwork. He raised the price of the bike $00 and would not accept a check for that but did offer the Honda incentive for accessories as a down payment for something I was told was only $9,999.00 he then proceeded to tell me that since I was not financing the purchase and I lived out of state he was not able to license the bike, nor could he take care of the paperwork to lisence the bike in Washington. So I would need to sign a waiver stating that I understood this. Which I did. Big Mistake, HUGE Mistake.

Anyway, paperwork complete finally at 7:50pm and I have paperwork to prove that I gave this jerk $10,000.00 and he owed me $1.00 and the documents for licensing. He also told me that if for some reason got pulled over before I could get the bike lisenced all I had to show was a certified copy of my bill of sale and of course leave the BOB plate on the bike until you get you'r plate.

Now, it is more than two weeks later, they got the money from the cashier's check on July 2nd and I am still looking for documents to lisence the bike. Ever tried to explain to a State Patrolman why you can not prove you are legal to ride a bike that some idiot let you drive off of a lot without even a trip permit on??? Well try doing if handcuffed after being searched at the side of the road becuase the Patrolman and the Sherriff both think you stole the bike from the dealership because it does not even have a trip permit.

So now I have been treated like a common criminal, I call daily looking for my documents and am told I can not give them to you until you bring me a certified letter from you'r financial institution stating that we (Beaverton Honda Yamaha) have recieved our money. Duh! Cashier's Check, and it cleared the credit union on July 2nd. Two days after the initial transaction.

Today is July 15th, Calvin has spoke with my attorney and told him that I have not complied with his need to have me produce proof of payment, he has also said that I told him I did not want a trip permit. But what was said was that he could not lisence the bike or give me a temporary tag because Oregon dealerships do not take care of lisencing Washington vechicles. So not knowing any better I sign his paperwork, but still assumed I would leave with a trip permit. Calvin claims I refused a trip permit and said a waiver that I would not hold Beaverton Honda Yamaha responsible.

I called over there twice to speak with someone other than Calvin and I am always put on hold. Finally tonight I spoke with Calvin and told him I needed him to get me the necessary documents or I would be returning the bike. He told me I could come purchase a trip permit for the bike from him or bring him the documentation that he has recieved payment in full and he could give me the paperwork I needed. He told me I could return the bike, I was my choice, but they did not have to refund any money to me, when I started to object he hung up on me.

Now I ask you, with all the money that Bob Lamphere has and the dealerships he owns, do you think that this jackass has the right to treat a customer like this, and why if you pay cash do you not leave with a vechicle that is legal to drive on the street and why don't they give you the documents necessary to lisence you'r vechicle and why for Christ's sake did they not have a $1.00 to give me my change???

I called back and was put thru to the title clerk who can not find the documentation for my bike but believes it was mailed out on July 5th via certified mail with the post office. Good trick since the postal service along with the rest of the federal goverment was on holiday July 5th. Now this title clerk is not able to find the purchase file for the bike, the MSO paperwork, which is what I need to lisence a bike that has never been titeled nor can she find the reciept that they have from the post office that documents were sent. However, she did offer to mail me a trip permit. Better late than never, I guess.

Anyway, in conclusion, I am planning on returning my bike tomorrow and I am hoping that I will get my money back 100% of it, if not I am not sure what direction I will go then, but I think that if they wanted to make things right they could. Give me the paperwork, the trip permit and the $2000.00 in accessories. I work with a guy who has a buddy that went over on July 2nd, traded in a Valkerie for a VTX, financed the balance and drove away with $2000.00 in extra's and yes a trip permit. He has had plates on his bike for over a week now.

Why is it that he was treated differently? What do I get other than frustration? And what is Bob going to do for me?
