Three years ago I leased a BMW from Bakersfield BMW. This week I returned the vehicle to Bakersfield BMW because the lease was up. Once they found out that I purchased another BMW from a competitor they hammered me with charges. The inspector told me that If I had purchased from them the charges would have been covered. I worked with them for weeks online trying to get a decent deal, but that never happened. I purchased a car from Valencia BMW who did a great job so far. After the inspection the guy told me that I owed them for 3 new run flat tires because the tread was less than 1/8 inch remaining. To check the tires he used his finger. Thats right his finger. So I used my finger to check the tires, and my finger said there was 1/8 inch remaining. That charge was over 1,000 for three tires. Next I only had one key so they charged me 150 for a key. Next they charged me a fee for returning the vehicle. $300. They are sending me a bill of 1,400 because I didn't buy another car from them.
I'm protesting with BMW financial over this catch 22. They get you in a trap. They know you will have worn tires, missing keys, scratched paint, so they threaten you with these charges to force you to buy another car from them. Please be very diligent and read your contract when dealing with Bakersfield BMW. If you lease and return to them without buying a car, your in for it. I wouldrecommend purchasing the car not lease. I will never set foot on that lot again and will tell everyone who will listen. Valencia BMW is a good alternative for Bakersfield folks looking for a BMW. I do agree to paying for a lost key and one tire that was not a run flat. The other two tires were still in serviceable condition. For those who have to deal with Bako BMW be sure to hold onto your wallet.
