I purchased a "luxury" vehicle, brand new, in April. The 2000 Acura 3.2 TL has been a nightmare, and has cost a small fortune in repairs and time.
In November the transmission failed. The transmission was replaced with a REBUILT transmission (in a NEW car!) with a 30,000 mile warranty.
The second transmission failed in May. The car is only FOUR years old. It was not covered by any warranties, and cost me nearly $6000 to repair.
After researching the WWW,I have discovered numerous complaints about Acura TL transmission failures, yet there has not been a recall!
American Honda Corporation must be made responsible for their poor craftmanship, and do a recall.
If you have never been in a vehicle when the transmission fails (and I hope you never are) it is a traumatic experience! The car is thrown into a low gear immediately, which throws your tires into a reverse spin—it feels as though you had been rear-ended by a dump-truck! This is dangerous, as no brakes are applied, thus no brake lights are showing for the poor people traveling in the cars behind you as your car rapidly de-celerates!
Honda/Acura—TAKE NOTICE!!!
