Got a estimate, took vehicle in for repair, kept vehicle 4 days, called and was told repair would be $1000.00 instead of $500, RIPOFF DO NOT USE THIS SHOP

09/28 I took my van to Linton Paint & Body to get an estimate to repair a rusty roof. A individual introduced himself as Greg Sepe, (owner), handed me a business card and proceeded to examine my van. After which he gave an estimate of $530.00 with tax to repair the van.in addition to that he offered to clean and detail the van and provide a lifetime guarantee on the work. He wanted me to leave the van at this time. I told him I was working and could not. I had other estimates for less, however, after going online to their website and their shop seemed to be organized and productive I decided to take my van to them the next day. I called the secretary and told her I was bringing the van the next day in the AM. The next day, Thursday, 09/29 I took the van to the shop and was driven home by the secretary. Sunday, 10/02, I was near the shop so decided to drop by and see how the repair was going if the were working. When I arrived at the shop I noticed my van out front where I had left it. I looked at the van and discovered that nothing had been done to it. The next morning, Monday, 10/03 I called the shop at about 8:30AM no answer so I left a message. The secretary returned my about an hour later and told me the the repair fee would be $1,000.00 plus to repair the roof. I told her that I had a written estimate for the repair of $500.00. She said that it did not matter that the repair would cost at least $1,000.00 and that the original estimate that I was given was fraudulant and written by a person that did work there any more. I told her that she was the person who completed the estimate for Mr. Sepe and that they were bound to repair estimate. She said that there was nothing that she could do and they would not repair the van for the original estimate. I then said I would pick up the van in the afternoon. Not having anyone that assist me in retrieving the van at that moment I called and told the secretary that I would come and pick up the key so I could get help and retrieve it later in the afternoon. Upon arriving at the shop I asked the secretary for the key and an individual sitting next to her introduced himself to me as Mr. Sepe and proceeded to explain that the individual who wrote the estimate was not Mr. Sepe and that he did not work here. I said then why did your secretary follow the instructions of this individual and complete the estimate and that why would he allow individuals enter his shop and write estimates. He said he would not repair the van for the original estimate and he himself (Mr. Sepe) had seen the van until this morning. I said how many "Mr. Sepes" are there at this shop and why didn't someone at the shop call me the first day. I told him that this shop is nothing more than a ripoff and a scam for the general public and that I would file a claim with the BBB, which I did, and left the shop. Please warn the public about this place. The bottom line is they gave me a fraudulant estimate, kept my van four days, tried to double the original estimate. I took my van to another shop this afternoon and it is being repaired as we speak for $323.00 no tricks, no gimmicks, no scams.

Please warn the public about linton paint & body.

Thank You
John R.L
