Ripoff fraudlent diagnosis of vehicle problem and how they found it

On febuary 7th my exwife called me her car had broken down and had been towed to pepboy they told her that they would scan the vehicle and tell her what was wrong with it. They came to diagnosis of a bad timing belt, so she called me being that i am an ase master technician. I told her there was no scan tool that could diagnose that kind of problem and i would come down and talk to them.

Upon arrival i spoke to the service write who told me they had not scan the vehicle because it did not run and had to be running in order to scan it. I then asked them how they got the diagnosis they said they removed the distributor cap and the rotor did not spin there fore it had a broken timing belt, but they were unable to give any kind of price quote at that time because the part was a dealer item.

I had my exwife refues the service and remove the car from the shop and bring it to my house. Upon diagnosing the car i found that the car did need a timing belt but not because it had broken but was worn out, btu that was not the reason the vehicle did not start or run. I scanned the engine controls with my snap-on scanner to find that there was a obd2 code for no crank shaft signal, scanning the engine controls i found that it did not have any rpm or crank signal.
I proceeded to purchase a crank sensor from the manufactor of the vehicle and a new timing belt because the belt needed to be removed in order to replace the crank sensor. I then install the new parts and the vehicle now runs fine.

I feel that since they were dealing with a woman they thought that they could just take advantage of her and would not have fixed the vehicle with out double charging her, if i had not gotten involved with the situation. They did finally give her a labor quote for the job of 4.5 hrs plus one hour diagnosis. After checking my online support system of shopkey5 by snap-on and mitchels on demand i found that the job only pays 2.5hrs. So you can see how they tried to rip her off. I would like to see her get a refund from pepboy for there inacurate diagnosis and inpropper filling out of the repair order as to how they came to there diagnosis.

Thank you for any help you can give me.
