Complaint / Review
Fairbanks Mazda/Dodge
Ripoff, Fairbanks committed Extortion, False Advertising, Fraud, Spot Delivery

I brought my car in to trade it on the last day of Nov. They told me they were giving me $4,000 for it, they really only gave me $1,900. I didn't find this out until I saw the truck online at their dealership for $9997 instead of the price listed on the windshield for $11,850. When I asked them about the price they said because they only gave me $1,900 for my car if they went with the $9997 due to negative equity the financed amount would be more in the long run.
I was contacted on 12-21-01,20 days later, that they couldn't get the financing as was stated on the contract, and that I needed to come in. I did, they told me I could choose from two different deals. Either the number of payments would be reduced to 60 instead of 72 (driving up the monthly) or the interest would go up from 10.25% to 13.25% also driving up the monthly. When I told them forget it, I want my car back. They told me "then you need to look for a lawyer" that I had entered an unverifiable amount in the monthly income field when I applied for credit. They showed me a carbon copy of the app. You could see where it looked like the numbers had been traced over. Now there was around $2,900 in the field. I only make around $1,900. They said I committed fraud by entering a wrong amount, I did not enter the $2,900 amount, they wrote over the amount that I entered, and turned the 1 into a 2. They threatened me with legal action to have me brought up on charges of fraud unless I signed a new contract. I didn't have a choice, I told them I didn't want to and couldn't afford the loan under those conditions. They said unless I want to go find a lawyer I should sign. I have a 2 yr old, and a disabled husband. I cannot afford the $287.00 a month payment they made me sign for. I signed, then went and got a lawyer and am currently suing them. I also found out that they were under investigation at the time from the Florida Attorney Generals office for false advertising, they are again under investigation now for the same thing. I made a complaint to the BBB who only got a letter from them saying they were in contact with me the whole time, this was enough to satisfy the BBB, what a crock they are also.
