On March 5th my party and I parked in a parking lot on 118 North Washington Ave in Minneapolis. We arrived about 7:45pm. I filled out the parking fee envelope and placed my $5 in the envelope and then in the drop box. We came back out at approximately 11pm to find our vehicle had been towed.
I contacted the towing company who charged us $228 to release our vehicle. On Sunday March 6th I contacted the owner of the parking lot and explained the situation. All he told me was that there was no envelope in the drop box with our license number on it. He would not offer any solution to rectify our situation.
I realize this is a our word against his, but we would have no reason to risk our vehicle being towed over a $5 parking fee, especially since we live more than two hours away. We also spoke with a few bystanders who informed us that this has happened before.
