I went in to have some tires put on my truck today. They was pretty busy and I expected the wait to be long. The next thing I knew they had sent one of their workers outside in the rain to replace my tires. The employee did not have any rain gear on, and it was raining pretty steady. The worker couldn't even use his safety glasses due to the rain blinding his view of his task at hand. While I was watching him change my tires I over heard another employee make the statement that it was going to be another 12 hour day with no lunch. The other employee he was talking to said yea it don't like we will be leaveing on time again today either. I looked in the bay and saw one worker working on a car while trying to eat at the same time. Are they short handed? Looked like it was a full crew. All the bays was full and every bay had a man working on a car so I just don't understand. Does Firestone just not care about their workers? Twelve hour days, no meal break, and forcing workers to work in the rain without proper rain gear. How is this right. I honestly felt bad for stoping and if I knew I was going to be keeping those boys from even being able to eat I wouldn't have stoped. I done some research and I now know that Tennessee has a labor law stating that anyone who works 6 hours or more is required a 30 minute meal break, and I do plan on reporting this matter. This is truely a sad matter and needs to be resolved now.
