Unlawful re-possession, intent to steal, skirt the law, predatory lending

A year ago my mom took out a loan on my Toyota Tacoma that was fully paid off. The amount was for five thousand dollars, and the loan was extended indefinitely. We had all of the money to fulfill the rest of the contract, and we called CarCash Loans to inform them that we were going to do so. This appointment was made with "Tina" a week before the repossession.

On Wednesday, CarCash requested a fax from our insurance company for proof of insurance. Supposedly, our insurance company did so. Without any warning from CarCash, my car was taken from me as I was inside the movie theaters. No one from CarCash (including Tina) attempted to contact us prior to the repossession. We never received a phone call, e-mail, letter, or any type of contact to inform us that the fax from our insurance company supposedly was never received, which would give them no other choice but to repossess my car.

From my understanding, a repossession is a last resort when a client refuses to pay, or for some other extreme reason. All of the payments have been made, and we have confirmation that they all have been received. If there is a technicality in the law that allows a finance company to repossess a car for lack of "proof of insurance" over the course of five days, then they are well aware of it, and take full advantage.

I am a 17 year old girl, and know very little about the law. All I know is that I was fully taken advantage of, and I feel violated. I'm in High school, and I work. I desperately NEED my car. Unfortunately my mom doesn't know where to turn either. If there is anyone out there that has the ability to stop this or expose this CROOKED company that prays on the naive, please help!
