Ripoff I'll end up taking a huge loss on this even though Honda should have, but did not, step forward and fix this problem

I have a 2001 honda accord ex-v6. I paid like $26,000 not even 3 years ago.

About 4 months ago the speedometer went out and they had to change my whole dash cluster out, including the odometer. So now my odometer shows like 6,000 and my actual mileage is like 49,000. I've been having a lot of problems with the dealer (took them 5 tries to get the breaks they replaced right) and have been wanting a truck so I went and looked at some fords and they told me they would give me $12,000 for my car on trade because of the odometer. Its black book value is about $15,500.

So I call grand honda and they say there's nothing they can do about it. The warranty only covers changing it. Then I called honda corp and filed a complaint. The owner of the dealership (curt clemick (sp?) calls me and says he wants to get rid of it for me only if I buy another honda. Why the hell would I do that especially from them. He basically was just trying to make sale, that's it. I wasted my time even contacting him.

Now, in between calling the dealership and honda corp my transmission goes bad. I had no car for a week while they replaced it. The car's not even 3 years old!

When I took it in the guy told me it would be about an hour and a half until they could get my car in and check it out. 4 hours later I called back and they had not even looked at it yet. Whne I asked why he said why he told me 1.5 hours and now it is turning into like 6 hours he says 1.5 hours was if I waited for it. So just because I am not physically waiting for it in the waiting room I am not "waiting" for it. Then they tell me that honda wants them to replace to solenoids to see if that does the trick even the mechanic said it wouldn't. The kicker is they wanted me to front $600. If that didn't wotk I would get charged anything. They know the transmission is bad, they even upped the warranty to 100,000 on all accords 2002.

The service manager tony helped me out like he always has, in my opinion the only good guy in that place and got it fixed at no cost to me.

My point here. Don't think honda's are a sure thing like I did. I got ripped off and now I don't trust my car and will trade it in.

Honda corp said that the warranty does not cover getting the odometer reset and certified like every other manufacturer does, but instead they screw me over. I'm just one guy right? Hwo cares if they lose one guy?

I plan on writing a letter to honda mostly just to vent, but you never know maybe the right person will see it.

I'm left with a car that out of 5 dealerships, only one will even buy it and that's for $3,000 less than black book value.

I'll end up taking a huge loss on this even though honda should have, but did not, step forward and fix this problem.

Just a warning. Do not buy honda and do not do any business with grand honda in elmhurst illinois.
