They left the oil fill cap off after an oil change, allowing the oil to spill out during normal usage.
While I normally check the oil fairly regularly this happened at a time where I had a lot of things going on and I forgot about it for about a month, well by this time I was down to 1 quart of oil!
I added oil and drove it for a few days, checking the oil every day and noticing that I was not loosing any oil at all however there was some greyish powder in my oil this eventually turned into copper glitter.
I took my vehicle back to them and told them about my grey powder and copper "glitter" and asked them to check the oil for anything that may be a sign of serious damage, from running an engine with 1 quart of oil.
They changed the oil and as he ran the oil through his fingers the manager assured me there was nothing in the oil that I should be concerned about, so I drove home.
A few days later my engine starts making a horrible knocking sound, a short search on YouTube provides me with some very shocking information... My piston rod is knocking.
I call the service center and the manager says just drive it on down we will figure it out. I'm not driving my vehicle 10 feet let alone 20 miles to the service center with the knocking sound.
And that's where we are at now.
