Honest Engines And Transmissions
Theft by deception

On or around January 20th was in need of a engine for my, Fullsize Jimmy, so I did a search in craigslist, and found a ad for HOBBY MECHANIC CLEANING OUT GARAGE, so I found a engine 95 TBI with 77000 miles. I called and asked if this was available Rebecca told me it was, I called back 2 or three more times to verify the engine miles and running condition, I live in cartersville. Called back the next day, to verify the engine was still there. Vern and Rebecca confirmed it was. So I drive a hour to there shop, get there pay for the engine and then they tell me after I pay, the engine isnt there. Vern the owner told me it would be there that afternoon and they would deliver it to me in Cartersville. Basically they didnt have that engine at all. So the next day I called the shop to verify the status of my engine. They were checking it out to make sure it ran and pulled the intake to verify no sludge. (Also when I purchased the engine was never told that because it wasnt installed at there shop they wouldnt pay for reinstallation if there was a problem) Any way my mechanic told me that when the engine arrived it was bright orange and the guy from honest engines painted it black before he left. I also reconfirmed that this was a running motor and no problems with Vern at HONEST ENGINES before I installed, Vern said it was a great engine. After 4 days my mechanic reinstalled the engine in my truck, I picked it up on Jan 29 from his shop, so at this point i have spent $535.00 on this engine that was listed as 77000 mile, and $675.00 for labor and parts. I initially drove the truck home and it was fine, drove to work the next day, to Canton at which time I started the vehicle and the rods were knocking. It stopped and drove it to work. Went to leave and it was really loud (knocking). I got it home and called Honest Engines and told them I got to drive my truck 1 day before the motor started making noise. Then the fight began, Vern told me he wasnt covering the replacement labor to reinstall my engine, nor any where on my paperwork did it say reinstallation of a bad engine would not be covered. When i called and asked where the 77000 engine was I thought I had purchased was, Rebecca told me they sold it before I got there, Then Vern told me that it was the motor that I purchased. This is when the lies began to fly, rebecca told me one thing and Vern something else, Basically I found ou that they broker these motors from a junk yard. They have no clue what they are giving to customers. Vern and I had words and hung up on each other several times. The ad is still listed in atlanta craigslist, I also asked Vern that if the 77000 mile engine I bought was in my truck why was he still advertising it as of Feb 10 and currently updated the ad in craigslist atlanta on Feb 18. I am out almost $1300.00 dollars, but I was promised a different running engine, which he has and was told I could have. Basically my feeling is I was decieved by this business into getting a engine that had 77000 miles on it, I have to pay another $600 to have the engine reinstalled, that was a 100% engine ready to go out of a TBI 1995 Caprice.
