Vic Bailey Auto - Vic Bailey II
Service Department Scam

My 2005 Ford Mustang GT, which has less than 30k miles, displayed the "emissions" warning light on the instrument panel. I immediately called Vic Bailey Ford to schedule a service appointment.

I arrived on time, but had to wait an hour and a half before the car was checked. After running the computer diagonostic test, I was told by the woman in the service department that the car needed a new fuel pump and that the cost would be $689. The woman refused to show me the print-out of the computer diagnostic results, saying that the computer had already been cleared.instead, she wrote out the description of the problem by hand on the invoice. I pointed out that the fuel pump had been replaced less than two years ago by Vic Bailey, but she said that it was out of warranty.

They said they did not have time that day to make the repair, so I immediately drove it to a local independent mechanic for a second opinion. The local mechanic ran the diagnostic test and let me see the print-out. The only problem with the car was apparently caused by vapors in the gas tank. He loosened the gas cap, re-tightened it and reset the emissions light, at no charge.

Vic Bailey Ford attempted to charge me $689 to repair something that was not broken.
