Robert and Joanna Montealvo Ripoff, Scammers, Terrible Customer Service, refuse to uphold verbal agreement, Google them

My wife and I purchased a 1999 Lexus GS 400 from Good Year Motors on 1-21. The asking price for the car was $12,499.34 minus a $3,000 down payment bringing the amount financed to $9,499.34 with an annual percentage rate of 24.24% making the payoff $16,664.29. The Kelly Blue Book value of the car is $8,090, as you can see the vehicle is greatly overpriced. With that said because my wife and I were in desperate need of a vehicle and with the fact that our credit is slightly challenged, we purchased the car anyway. We were helped by Robert and Joanna Montealvo.initially my wife and I were very impressed with their customer service and their willingness to help get us financed. I was so impressed with what I perceived to be great customer service that I even asked for several of their business cards to pass out to friends and family members. Since 1-21 we have spent over $4,000 at Good Year Motors, not to mention referrals that were made. My wife and I ran into some financial difficulties and were no longer able to stick to our original agreement with Good Year Auto. We were 30 days behind on our vehicle owing about $703.00 in arrears with our insurance payment lapsing on 4-20. Our vehicle was repossessed on 4-15 by Good Year Motors due to none payment. We dont have a problem with the repossession itself because at the end of the day its about business and we are fully aware of that. They had every right to repossess the vehicle and I am not disputing that. My complaint is that after the vehicle had been repossessed my wife contacted the general manager of Good Year Motors Joanna Montealvo and she told her that all we needed to do to get our vehicle back was to pay the amount owed in arrears which was $703.00. While following the repo guys to the dealer my wife had them to stop at a red light so that she could retrieve her purse. After retrieving her purse she discovered that there was some money missing from her purse. When arriving at the dealership she confronted the repo man and he apologized and returned the money that had been stolen from her purse. Once inside the office she met with Joann to make the payment that was agreed upon. At this time Joann told her that the payment would be $946.00 and at that time my wife agreed to make that payment as well. As she was in the process of making the payment Joanna called the owner Carolyn Jeannete Brown who apparently is Roberts mother or some other relative according to peoplefinders.com to make her aware of the arrangement. After hearing the agreed upon arrangement that was made by Joanna the general manager, the owner Carolyn Brown supposedly said to Joanna that we could not get our car back unless we paid them $3,000 of the $9,000 that was still owed and that we would have to pay 6 months of car insurance in advance. This would cost us an additional $3,700 on top of the $4,000 that had already been paid towards a car that was already overpriced. The owner then notified my wife that we would only have 3 days to produce over $3,700 towards a car that was only 30 days behind that we have only had for a few months. My wife and I stopped by Good Year Motors today 4-17 in hopes that we would be allowed to speak with the owner or someone who would be willing to honor the original agreement that was made by the general manager Joanna Montealvo. They vehemently refused to allow us to speak with the owner Carolyn Brown whom we just found out is Roberts mother. They said that she doesnt speak with customers under any circumstances which is bad customer service. Apparently she is nothing more than a scapegoat for Robert and Joanna to avoid confrontation with unhappy customers. My wife and I explained to Robert and Joanna that we desperately needed our vehicle to make it back and forth to work and to take our son to work. We also explained to them that we have a son who has sickle cell that needs to make his monthly Doctors appointments at Texas Childrens Hospital. We assured them that we would not make anymore late payments and that we would keep the insurance current even if it meant paying for 6 months in advance if they would just allow us to pay the arrears and bring the payment current on today. While we pleaded our case to Joanna her husband Robert sat in the adjacent room not saying a word to my wife and I. Not once did he speak to us or address us in spite of the fact that we had done business with him and always showed him and his wife great respect. The longer we tried to reason with Joanna the more it became apparent that it was not their intent to give us the car back but to profit off of it from another unassuming customer. I feel like Joanna and Robert should have upheld the verbal agreement that Joanna made with my wife to pay the arrears. Apparently they are in the business of scamming and misleading their customers. After doing a Google search on them we discovered that we are not alone as it relates to being unhappy with their business practices. (http://local. Yahoo.com/info-18990991-goodyear-motors-houston) My wife and I will be filing a complaint first thing Monday morning with the Department of Motor Vehicles as well as with the BBB and the OCCC. If you have had a bad experience with them I recommend that you to do the same. This is a dealership that you absolutely do not want to do business with under any circumstances. It appears that it is a family ran business and they all stick together to deceive and mislead their customers. If you fall behind on your payments do not let them repo your vehicle because they will not allow you to get it back. They are in the business of repossessing your vehicle as soon as they possibly can so that they can resale it to another customer and make a greater profit.By the way if you are a victim of repossession through Good Year Motors do not sign the agreement that they ask you to sign to remove your belongings from the vehicle. If you sign it you will be relinquishing all rights to your vehicle. Call the police if they will not let you remove your personal property from the vehicle and the police will allow you to remove your property.
