My husband and I bought a 1998 Isuzu trooper two years ago. We have had problems with it on and off for two years, but we were mostly satisfied with it.
August 1st, we made a 4hr trip to Ohio to visit family. On the way home the vehicle died. After towing it home, we discovered that the engine had serious problems. It was going to cost about $3000 to get it fixed.
After contacting Isuzu we also discovered that the warranty ended July 1st of this year. That's just four weeks before the car died. It was a 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty. We were still under the 60,000 miles so we figured they would want to help.
Isuzu could have cared less. Mu husband kept saying, "So you're saying that it's alright that the engine in my car died with less than 60,000 miles on it?" They kept saying it was out of warranty. I mean 4 weeks out of warranty. They said we should take it to the nearest Isuzu dealership and have them fix it. Then they might consider it, but probably not. But the closest one to where we live is 2hrs away. It's going to cost $400 to get it towed there and if Isuzu decides they aren't going to fix it, we are going to have to get it towed back.
My unfortunate circumstance is that I'm 8 months pregnant. I had to quit my job back in May because of difficulties due to the pregnancy. My husband also lost his good full time job with benefits and is now working a part time job making $6 less an hour. We don't have the money to tow it unless we know for sure that Isuzu would help us out. We just can't throw money around. We aren't getting our bills paid as it is. Our insurance will only cover $100 of the towing bill.
So now we have been without a car for almost 9 weeks. I have to walk to Dr. S appointments and to get groceries (when we can afford them). So we have a dead car in the back yard that we are still paying $400 a month on and it's not doing us a bit of good. We thought about letting them come and repo it but then we would still have to pay for it. We have been working really hard on getting our credit back in order too. I have never felt so helpless and disgusted in my life. Doesn't anybody care about humanity anymore? What kind of company leaves a pregnant woman stranded but still expects her to keep shelling out the money to them?
