This is not dealer but manufacture issue.
I bought new 1996 Ranger Rover 4.0 in 1996 at Long Island, NY.
After the first year I spent so much money to fix it, may be more than original cost.
Recently a dealer at north NJ fixed oil leak at engine but leaked again and local EXXON mechanic fixed it and have no problem so far.
Car had problem with Mass Air Flow Sensor and local mechanic at south NJ charged more than $2,000 but problem continued.
I went to Cherry Hill Dealer and they told me to replace Mass Air Flow Sensor. I said No. I failed Auto Inspection test after few month later.
I went to 3 mechanics but they told me to comeback later because I had 8 codes issue.
I searched Web and I found out that cleaning MAFS may solve the problem. I went to Mechanics and asked them to clean it.
The mechanics charged me only $20 dollars. Engine light do not come back. Engine Light was on most times before.
Dealer said Mass Air Flow Senor part alone will cost almost $1,500.
Is it possible to charge the reasonale price for the part and upgrade service?
