This is my first complaint, and this company has some nerve - let me tell you. I reserved and paid for a 7 day car rental from USAVE for my vacation in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
1. When I came, I had to wake up the shuttle driver from taking a nap, parked outside the airport in the van.
2. After arriving at their booth, I had to wait for 2 hrs until they got their act together to get me the car I rented.
3. The guy pulls up in a car, which is not a Mitsubishi Lancer like I ordered. It looks beat up everywhere. Bangs, dents, every window and side view mirror is manual. The inside had water damage and very low grade materials covering the seats, which looked very worn. It was the worst looking car I had ever rented. I was very worried to even get in, and asked the guy how old it was. He said 2 yrs, and they're due to upgrade them any week now. Ye, right... It looked like it was at least 15 yrs old. I asked if I could have another, they said no.
4. I pulled out, trying to convince myself he was telling the truth and it was 2 yrs old. The manual window opener thingy fell off the second I tried turning the window open. The car drove very poorly, and I felt very belittled. I couldn't drive it. We stopped to eat for 30 min, because we still hadn't eaten since flying out of NY 8 hrs ago. Then returned the car immediately.
5. Ooops. "You signed a waiver - NO REFUND". But I said - I drove less than 6 miles, and the gas is still full. It's only been 1 hr, and you have money from me covering a week's car rental. I would understand if they charged me for one day, but they refused to refund me a penny.
6. After having a crappy sunday, I called management up Monday (the next day). They said "f* me, we had you sign a waiver, so no refund". Even though the waiver was signed before I saw the car... I told them to please reconsider, as they were keeping an unfair amount of my money for a car I returned within 1 hr. They refused. I said I would go to my credit card, they said "go ahead".
7. My credit card was a hastle too, since they hate to get involved. After they "lost" my dispute form 3 times, finally they replied to my latest one. They said "sorry, since u signed a NO REFUND"... Basically, we've got an excuse not to get involved and everyone except me prospered from this deal.
USAVE is the absolute worst. No compromising. Very rude. Not one worker or manager that I spoke to sympathized with how unfare the situation was. No one offered me any options. This was horrible! If I would have fronted the money for car insurance... That would have doubled my loss.
Never rent from usave!!!
