There is a long standing conflict of interest within the insurance industry. For them to make money requires that they avoid paying claims.in my ripoff they inaccurately name components in a named policy and thereby reduce the possibility of encountering a valid claim. My instance involves a sunroof where the policy names the motor. However, there is no 'motor' component. There is a module that contains multiple components one of which is the motor and in the event that any component fails the module fails. The problem is that none of the components can be replaced individually as they are a single module. Mercury will replace the module if the motor component fails but will not replace the module otherwise. This is not something one would even know before but it is a self serving technicality couched in impropriety. Next time we will make payments to a savings account for the going rate of a reputable warranty company and self insure. Beware of Mercury Auto Extended Warranties it is too late if you are making a claim.
