I decided to rent a truck from Budget based on their online estimate, which was far lower than other truck companies' estimates.
I had tried to be in touch with Budget before renting my truck to determine what my final bill might be. Their customer service was terrible however, and when I finally got in touch with someone, they claimed that it was impossible to know because they had no information regarding tax rates and insurance charges.
I should have recognized that their unwillingness to give me this information would result in a bill that was far higher than any other rental company. But I trusted their low-priced estimate.
When I arrived to pick up my truck I was told that my final bill would be double what they had estimated - and that there was nothing I could do about it. I had based my entire moving plans around renting from Budget and so, I had to rent the truck. I had no other options at that point.
I tried to get Budget to listen to my complaint about the price of my final bill, but in doing so I received some of the worst customer service ever. Dealing with Budget was an extremely frustrating experience.
I strongly advise to NEVER rent from Budget or its parent company, Avis.
