Auto Life Warrenty? How about pain in the butts and theives? Tried to do auto withdrawls after cancling

I caled mepco, who at the time I was told they were "Auto Life Extends" and they gave me quite the pitch. I wanted to talk it over with my husband buthe wasn't home, well the rep on the phone told me I couldn't wait and talk to him, that I had to buy the product now or never. Once the offer was made to me, they had me in the system and I would never be able to get it again. I felt very pressured and bullied and was worried that I was going to miss out on something that my truck really needed. I paid the startup fee, and agreed to the terms and the fees.

After my husband got home and I told him what I had done he wasn'thappy with me. He told me to call and cancel and so the next day I called. I couldn't get through! There are options that are given for you through the automatic system and when I chose the option to cancel I was on hold for over an hour! An agent picked up, said hello and then we were diconnected. I had to get back to work, and so I waited for the next day.

I finally got through a few days later by choosing the option to add a vehicle, and I spoke with somone who said I could cancel and get my money back because I had done it within the first 30 days. They took all of my info, and then that was it. I told my husband and he was no longer mad at me.

Imagine my surprise when I the next month I was close to being overdrawn at the bank due to the Mepco fee being taken out! I called back and was told that it was a mistake and that it would be fixed. Long story short: it wasn't. I called back again and they told me that I needed to submit it in writing that I was canceling. I did so, and guess what? Another monthly fee was taken from my account!

I called back and after a 45 minute plus hold I was able to talk to someone. I was now almost late for work and in a huge hurry. I told them (in tears) that my husband has lost his job and we can't afford this. They seemed sympathic but everytime I tried to tell them that I had to cancel and all of the trouble that I have been through all they would offer was a reduced "hardship" payment. I accepted it due to my now walking into work and I had to end the call.

I called back a few days later when I saw my bank statement and once more the full amount was taken out. This time I tried to be tough and mean. I told the rep that I was so mad and that there was now problems in my marraige due to this company and with my bank. I told him that they were rip offs andthat I had been to the Better Buisness site and that they had a rating of "F". He informed me that they would refund the money and that the only way that I could cancel was in writing (which I done once already). I got his name and the address and told him he would get it in writing, and hung up. That evening I wrote my second letter, and mailed it. Then to make things safer for my families money, I canceled my debit card that Mepco had on file. After talking to my bank they told me that sometimes a company can force a payment through, so my husband and I canceled the entire checking account.

I have now gotten a bill in the mail from Mepco for the entire amount due, and I am worried about my already poor credit ranking. What is it with this company?

Oh, on a side note. I called around to a few auto repair places and they were telling me to run as fast as I can away from this company. Many of the garages are having trouble with the company approving the work that really needs done and wantingthem to do more than is necessary.
