Stopped sending bills, never notified us of being late - just sues us out of the blue!

As most people we have busy lives. With the economy going under and other financial stresses, we hadn't noticed that GMAC stopped sending our bill a few months ago. We didn't even receive a late notice. We haven't received ANY thing from them except a "Your a valued customer" letter trying to explain the bailout in the eyes.

Yesterday out of the blue I get a copy of legal documents explaining we are being sued by GMAC for the balance of the car. All I could do was cry from frustration. How could they not send us something in the mail, anything saying we are behind. We would have sent them the money right away. We have the money to pay them all three month (two back months and current month), but they are more interested and seem determined to sue us and take our car.
