In March of 09 I brought my 2000 jeep Wrangler in for Tires, Brakes, Shocks. When I dropped it off and recieved an estimate I asked worst case seniero so I was given an cost 0f $1600.00. I agreed and left.
Later in the day not hearing anything I called the store where the work was being done. I was told bt Kevin (NTB store manger) that they were having problems with my rear shocks that the bolts were rusted and would it be ok to keep it over night. Again I agreed. The following day I called they told me my jeep would be completed by 6:00 pm now keep in mind I dropped it off at 9:00 am the day before. So I did ask while they have my jeep on the rack could the find a noise that I was having in the front area of my jeep they said sure. I thought my front Differentail was going bad.
Well at 6:00pm I arrived to find out my Jeep was still not done in fact they hadn't even mounted my tires yet. I ask about my noise and according to Kevin (Store Manger) there so called master mechanic said it was my transfer case. I felt a littler relieved. NTB offered to repair it for an additional $1600.00 I told them not thanks I could handle that.
Anyway I arrived at 6:00pm store was closing my Jeep still not done so I asked the gentleman at the counter what was the problem he then informed me they were sent the wrong parts and had to find another supplier since it was Sunday. Ok I ll give them that. So finally 6:45 Kevin the store manger came out told me my Jeep was done. So I ask him what took so long he told me that it was because the underside of my vehcile was so rusty. (Whatever) so now it has taken a company that specilizes in tires, brakes, shocks two days to complete this task. When it was time to pay for the work done I was surprised to find out my $1600.00 was noe $2100.00 after argueing with them for another 20min. It was settled at $1800.00.
Now on to my transfer case I bought one from a salvage yard for $589.00 I put it in only to find out that it wasn't my transfer case after all. But infact a CV yoke on my front drive shaft. So I went to an auto parts start bought the bearing for $19.00 and put it in myself. So needless to say I will not ever go to another NTB. I did call the dealship to ask about there hourly rate and to my surprise they charge the same rate. Leeon learned!
