West Liberty Chrysler Jeep ripoff lied about work needed to pass inspection

My family and I have been buying cars from Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge (formerly known as West Liberty Chrysler Jeep) for over 10 years now. I purchased my first car (a 2003 Jeep Liberty) from them and had taken it for two inspections so far and never had a problem. I paid for the inspections and the stickers and I was on my way. This was before they moved a block up the road and became TRCJD.

This time, I dropped my Jeep off and went to work. As soon as I'm walking into work, I get a call from Jim telling me that my car has been inspected and needs new front brakes, the rear brakes are low, it needs two front tires, and he flies through about 5 more things that need repaired and tells me that my total bill is $1,228 and will be ready before 5PM. Unfortunately for him, I'm not a complete moron, and I told him not to touch my car until I called him back.

I call him back an hour later and ask him to slowly go through the list of repairs he gave me earlier. He tells me that I need: front and rear brakes, front tires, a new air filter, fuel injection system cleaning, and front and rear differential flush. Alright, I know the last three are utter crap and don't need done to pass inspection, but that's typical dealership rubbish that they always try to pass onto you (although they were like $200 apiece which I thought was ridiculous, even for typical dealership crap).

My problem came when I asked him to tell me ONLY the things that needed done to pass inspection. He said, "front brakes, rear brakes, and tires". I said, "you're sure the rear brakes need done, because you just said they were low last time?" He said, "yes, they need done to pass, too." I told him I'd have the work done elsewhere and to just put the Emissions sticker on.

I went and picked up my car, and read the bill when I got home. The bill read "State Inspection Failed: Front brakes, Front tires".

I normally wouldn't take my car to a dealership, but I never know how warranties work elsewhere.in any event, this went above and beyond basic dealership BS... It's one thing to tell me my rear brakes need replaced and I need a bunch of other garbage, but when I catch you making stuff up, I think it needs to stop there. You should not be allowed to lie to a customer about what is needed to pass an inspection when they specifically ask you.

Needless to say, I won't be dealing with them again when my lease is up.
