Cross Roads Chrysler & Jeep At South 240 Service Department Alert! And the truth shall not be told in this dealer's service department

Oops! My driver's side automatic window slipped off the track so I'll just run over to the Jeep Dealership at Cross Roads and have them open the door panel and put it back on track. It looks like it could rain, and I can't leave the window down so better get it done right now.

Should not be a big deal, I received a memo from Jeep that said this is pretty common with the late models of my Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

Service Manager comes out and opens the door hit's the button to raise the window and says, "Yup, it's off track alright". That will be $500.00! A little shocked, I said — the memo said to just pull back the door panel and re-set the window? Service Manager says, " well, the thing is we are going to have to replace all the clamps, springs, tracks and completely remove the door panel - it will take sometime but it will be as good as new when done." How long will it take, I asked - He said, Oh, you better leave it for the rest of the day.

I called my office manager to come and pick me up and watched them pull my car into the first stall in the service department garage. A mechanic got out of the my Jeep and started pulling off the door panel.

With some relief, I thought great it may be done by lunch as it was now 8:15 in the morning.

It is a 20 minute drive from my office to the dealership at this time of day. As my office manager pulled into the dealership, I noticed the mechanic get into my car and pull it outside into the parking lot. Hmmmm??? I go ask the service manager, why the car was pulled outside?

Oh! Well -ah, your car is done. I said, but how could he replace all the parts remove the tracks and put in new tracks and finish it all in 20 minutes. His response was - oh well, they are pretty good at this stuff.

I go to pick up my bill and pay the lady behind the glass window. The bill is $200. For 90 minutes of labor and $300 for parts... A total of $500. I go back to the Service Manager and inquire about the labor first — I said, "it took him 20 minutes?" - Why are you charging me for 1.5 hours. Oh, he says - Chrysler says we have to charge that for putting a window on track. I then asked what parts were put in the door in 20 minutes for the $300.??? He say's everything was replaced... Me: "In 20 minutes?" Serv. Mgr.- "Yup! And by the way, your serpentine belt needs to be replaced immediately - it has cracks in it!"

Three months later I get a mailer from Cross Roads that says they have missed me in the Service Department - here is a coupon for an oil change for $18.95. Hmmm? Wonder what might happen if I take the car back there for an oil change & and what they would charge if I did not have a coupon???

I take the car in and they change the oil - while waiting the guy behind the Parts Counter asks me if he can help me — then, "HE" tells me the dealership uses the cheapest 30 weight Pennzoil availbable in bulk... An hour later, the PA system calls me to the Service Department - that will be $61.00 for the oil change the Service Manager says... I go to the pay window and slide my coupon through to the cashier lady... She say's oh, well let me check if we can take this... I said, it is good for another 30 days???

I pay the $18.95 and leave.By the way, at 60,000 miles the Jeep dealership where I bought the car said the serppentine belt must be replaced immediately, they have also told me that every oil change, every 5000 miles and the Jeep now has 130,000 miles on it and the serpentine belt still has weather cracks on the outside of the belt.

Do not take your car to cross roads for service of any kind - unless money is not important to you... If they jack up the cost of an oil change by more than two times, how much will they charge you for new brake pads - fool me once shame on you — fool me twice shame on me!!!
