Jeep Daimler Chrysler Corporation
Jeep Liberty, defective window regulators

My Jeep Liberty has 14,000 miles on it, the window regulators have failed 4 times in less than 4 months. Since its been over 3 years since I bought it, the dealer and Jeep DaimlerChrysler have refused to correct the problem. I fixed the first three myself, but this window dropped while on a trip to another state. I had to take the door panel off in the parking lot of a motel and put a stick in the door to hold the window up so it wouldn't be stolen. I paid over $18,000 for this vehicle and have to use a stick to hold the window up, what a deal. I called Jeep customer service, I was on hold for over 45 minutes, I guess they thought I would go away. They said there was nothing they could do since it is out of warranty. Jeep knows this is a defective window regulator, but refuses to correct the problem. Their advice was to take it to a dealer and get the regulator replaced, cost to me is, $200-$400 a door. Since its a four door, they expect me to shell out $800-$1600 to have more defective parts installed.
I got on the internet last night, there are thousands of Jeep owners that are having the same problem. The windows just drop down in the door, the problem is a white piece of nylon that the window rides up & down on. This critical piece is where all the stress is, its about 1/16" or less thick. I don't know why Jeep doesn't come up with a stronger piece to replace the defective one. I would pay to have them installed, if they would last longer than the defective ones that are in Jeeps now. The only other solution is to carry 4 sticks and the right tools with me at all times. I'm almost afraid to drive it anywhere if I have to park it a unsecure area.
I was considering buying a 2009 Liberty, but am having second thoughts now. If this is Jeep DaimlerChrysler's idea of customer service, I think I'll look at Honda or Toyota.
