I too am a victim of Drivetime. I purchased a 2001 Dodge Durango, took it back within 24 hours for the salesperson to tell me I could not break the contract. With the joke of a limited warranty it went into their shop 4 times. After that I took it to a mechanic 9 times. During all this time, I am driving my son's pick up truck with 190,000 mi. To work 50 miles each way with no problems... He is driving my car that I paid $15,000 for with a $1500 down payment 2 miles each way it it still breaks down.
Last October, the durango literally fell apart going 15 mi an hour down the road... I never was deliquent, actually kept calling pleading for them to take the car back and put me in ANYTHING safe... I called said pick it up as it sat in my yard. I never got a call for being late, only letters saying call us make payment arrangements... Continued to call and ask them to pick it up as I put thousands into a car, made $445 in car payments a month for something I could not drive on the highway because it would buck at 65 and reduce speed to 40... Lights would stay on during the day but couldnt get them to work at night. Windows kept falling in.
Was told my a friend who goes to auctions that they are known to play with the vins, known to change docs to make the car look alright even if it had a bad history, mine shown a clean record but my mechanic said no way. Major computer problems, major electrical problems, heating/ac problems... I will fight this to the supreme court... I will not pay them another dime. They took there collateral back so they nulified the loan. I want this company to be sued. I gave them over $6000 and I have nothing to show for it other than ruined credit.
