Nissan Of Garden City
Cheated, taken advantage of, and stuck in a bogus contract. Wow thanks ellen!

I was searching for a new used car in an attempt to get rid of my 07 civic coupe.initially i took it to honda, but they kept trying to put me in an accord. I then came upon nissan of garden city on the net. They were offering a 07 altima for 13,000.
I fiqured i could trade in my civic (two different honda dealerships appraised it for 10,000,) and get the altima. I estimated that since i owed 15,000 on the loan, i would get 10,000 for the civic and the remaining 5,000 would go to the price of the civic which would bring the price to 18,000 making my payment around 400 no more then 450 (the civic's payment was 340).
I spoke with the manager, mark, who stated that sounded about right and stated it would work in my favor. I went down to the dealership, with net print out in hand stating that the car was 13,000 to the salesman and explained my situation. Once again stressing the range i wanted to stay in and how much my car was worth. The finance manager, leo, stated that he would be working on the paper work and since it was late to take the car home and he would call me when he reached a deal with a finance company.
2 days later. After x-mas. I was contacted by the salesman stating that i could come in and finalize the paper work. When i got there i was directed to see ellen, who would be my new finance manager. The first thing she did was present me with the paperwork and simply stated sign here. I realized it was the contract and asked her to explain it to me. She simply stated that this is my interest rate and this is my payment 572.66!! I asked why was it so much. She stated it really the interest and how they had a hard time securing a loan. Reluctantly i signed it because i need the room and we loved the car. However, when i got home and took a look at the contract i noticed all these bogus fees which had my loan totaling 26,000.
I went back to the dealership stating that i want my car back (after speaking to my cousin who is a salesman at honda who informed me that i have 24 -48 hours to get my car back. It was only a hr later). Ellen refused to give it back.
I called the bank informing them that i could not afford this and they contacted ellen as well urging her to void the contract her response was that if they pulled out she could easily find another lender.
I took the contract to a finance manager at a saab dealership who broke the contract down for me: i was only given 6,000 for my civic which left me with a balance of 9,000, it also was revealed that i was sold the altima for 15,000 and then an extended warranty contract was added on for 2500.
When i approached ellen with this info. I was told that it was my responsibility to ask how much my car went for and that the 15000 is what the altima was listed for. I explained that my car was appraised for much more and that she was supposed to let me know if there was a differance, also i handed the print out to the saleman stating the car was listed for 13,000 she refused to do anything beside remove the extended warranty.
Now two month later the warranty is still on and i had to make a trip back to the dealership (husband and baby in tow) just to get an answer from this broad about why it is taking so long for this to come off and her response was "theres nothing else i can do feel free to resubmit the form yourself b/c i don't know what to tell you." my husband was livid and went to complain to the owner phil. Phil stated he will take car of it filled out the form and faxed the info over. He stated it should take effect between 2-4 weeks. We shall see...
I wish they would fire this ditzy girl she gets nothing but complaints and could care less if she is ripping a customer off and forget about trying to get her on the phone. I am going to give it 4 weeks for the change to take effect and after that i am going to get a lawyer and take these crooks to court (like i was advised to). Save your self the headache and stress stay far away from this dealership, or you will regret you didn't.
