Misleading ads and sells faulty vehicles

I bought a used Chevy Tahoe last year. I was just looking for something to use for a short time hauling thigs around, so I bought one knowing there were lots of miles on it and cosmetically was not appealing. The ad online said it had some features I was looking for - 4x4, ABS, etc...

Once I got it home, I found that it would not start after a couple days sitting in the driveway, half of the back door wouldn't open, one of the front blinkers didn't work, radio didn't work, A/C doesn't work, heat doesn't work, ABS doesn't work, 4WD doesn't work. Then after taking it to the shop to get some of these things fixed, the guy found the main wires melted, tie rods are about to go and rear differential is about to go.

Now I knew I was buying a beater and some of this I could live with, since I assumed there would have some problems, but c'mon now! My $700 car I bought when I was 16 was in way better shape than this thing! If the ad lists all the features out, I would assume at least some of those things work. And the blinker makes the vehicle not even road legal! And the tie rods/differential and just downright dangerous.

The mechanic advised me to not risk driving it at all and stopped looking for things wrong after he got to $1800 in repairs. He couldn't believe someone would sell a truck in this condition. He suggested I take it to the dealership to get it fixed since they should cut me a break and explained all the costs so they didn't try to rip me off.

Well, upon getting to the dealership with my list of repairs and costs in hand, they took a look at it and came up with a $3000 bill. What?! So I had them fix the tie rods & the short that is causing the battery drain for a grand total of $1000. Got it home and now the battery lasts about a week instead of 2 days. I sent a note to the service dept to tell them it still doesn't work and when can I take my car in, and I didn't get a response at all. I didn't even want to call them, because their condescending voices just my drive me over the edge.

So I just gave up and came to the conclusion that it would have been cheaper and easier to rent a truck all summer than the $5500 I am out on this truck. Now I'm stuck with it, and will probably end up calling the wreckers to come get it since I don't have the lack of integrity that is needed to sell such a heap of junk to someone else.

I thought this place had a great reputation, but upon telling my story to others they all laugh at me. I got responses like "yeah, everyone goes to Rockenbach once, but no one ever goes back a second time", "no one shops there unless they want to get ripped off", "I could've told you to never set foot in that place", "what salesman did you get? Nevermind, they are probably all sumbags", etc...

Now that I think about it, this is the first time no one tried selling me an extended warranty... Should have been a red flag! So take everyone's advice and stay away!!!
