Rip Off Artists - Professional Cons... How Electric Cart Warehouse Jacked Me Good!

I bought a 2003 (4) passenger EZGO golf cart from the co. Electric Cart Warehouse at the Orange County Swap Meet in July. I was promised the following at the time of purchase:

$5,500.00

2003 EZGO white, Street Legal Upgrade, 8.1 hp motor, 400 amp controller, 4g wires, 6" lift with 10" chrome rims, CD player with ipod hook up, 2 rear speakers, DMV registration and licensing, black roof with black pin stripe, and speed of up to 35 mph. The sales man (Seth) also promised the cart would be used but EVERYTHING else would be brand new, including the batteries, seats, lift, tires, wires, roof, etc. - I mean EVERYTHING!

When I went to pick it up, I noticed the cart was dirty, it had used old beat up batteries, the bushings were cracked, old, and about to fall apart. When I brought this to the attention of the owner, he said, "Talk to Seth, I don't know what he promised you." I called Seth and he told me to leave the cart there and he would take care of it.

When they finally delivered the cart to my house, I noticed the batteries were used but were at least clean, the bushings were replaced but still looked used, the lift kit was welded on (i dont know why) and the rear brake cable snapped so they had to weld that back together. Also, the roof was used and painted black. I asked the delivery guy if the cart would go 35mph-he said he didn't know. I took the cart anyway hoping it would at least be a strong cart and perform as promised.

A few months passed and the cart started to shut off on me. I would wiggle the batteries around a little and the cart would run again. But one day it died for good. I tried to tightened the battery cables when I noticed the cables were burning hot. I saw the battery posts were melted like a piece of chocolate on a hot sidewalk. I think by this time, if I even had warranty, it was already expired. (I wouldn't trust ECW to service it anyway).

I took the cart to a shop in Long Beach and the technician immediately noticed the batteries. He said, "you can't mix batteries." We noticed the cart had (1) T-105 battery and (5) T-125 batteries. Then he said, "you should have upgraded cables on this cart too." We noticed the cables were stock and with an upgraded motor it would explain why they would get so hot when I operated the cart. The service rep at the front desk said, "the business at the swap meet doesn't know what they are doing. We get carts in from them all the time with problems like yours." She later called me back and told me it would cost $700 to fix!!! Turns out, because Electric Cart Warehouse sold me a piece of crap, I needed to replace 3 batteries and upgrade my cables to heavy duty 4gauge. To make matters worse, the cart only goes 22mph max which confirms my doubt that it ever actually ran 35mph!

I really believed Electric Cart Warehouse because I thought they were a good company who knew what they were doing. I was so wrong. All they did was piece together a cart with crap and sold it to a person who knew nothing about golf carts.

So I called Electric Cart Warehouse and told them what happened. They said they would fix up my cart for $559.56. They would replace the three burnt batteries with three US brand Batteries. So I would have three Trojans and three US Batteries. I told them that was the problem in the first place. They said no it's ok to mix them and that they do it all the time.

I called US Batteries and asked a technician if it would be ok for me to mix Trojan with US. He said, "No! No! No! They have different chemicals and would not be good for your cart."

Needless to say, I had my cart serviced for $700. I would rather pay more for good quality service than less for a poor job I just can't trust. It's obvious Electric Cart Warehouse does not know or does not really care about the business they are in. Please don't buy anything from these guys! Electric Cart Warehouse is a BAD BAD BAD company!!! They definitely cannot be trusted to build a strong, trustworthy cart as they promise to customers. I am terribly DISAPPOINTED and I regret dealing with Electric Cart Warehouse. Pls. Don't make the same mistake!
