This is my second Honda odyssey 2006 (12000 miles) from the same dealership, the only dealership that ever opened the hood of both cars.
March I changed the oil in preparation for a trip to Florida, (I drive daily 1 mile to the train station).
One month after the oil change the family went from NJ to Florida. (1200 miles one-way)
On the way back, the engine light comes on and we stopped the car. Called the NJ dealership for the nearest dealership, which happened to be in Daytona Beach.
Tow the car to the dealership, they said that the cap came off; ripping the radiator, water came out. They changed the radiator, tried to start the car and found that the engine is damaged.
We decided to rented a car to go back home and towed the car back to NJ to our dealership. The Planet Honda did not except the car for evaluation until we called Honda USA and paid $600 in cash in advance.
Planet Honda estimate was $8000 damage in the engine, which they are not going to cover, and requested the entire amount in cash in advance.
Since I need to go to work, do not want to drive a car that was fixed we traded it for another Honda odyssey in a different dealership.
We are suing Planet Honda and Honda USA.
I find that my story is a second one on this site. I believe dealerships should take responsibility for their negligence and Honda USA should check whether there is a mechanical problem with the oil-cap coming off.
