After paying the same amount for over a year, I was curious as to why my bill went up $50. I called in and was told that a feature had been added to my account, something to do with uninsured motorist coverage.
I asked that the new feature be removed and was told that it couldn't be taken off without a signed consent form mailed or faxed to them. I asked why they can add random things to my policy without my consent, but would have to hassle me for signed documents to remove something I never authorized in the first place. The agent didn't answer the question.
I informed the agent that since I only had a month left on my policy that I would just switch to a different provider if this was really an issue he couldn't resolve on the phone. He couldn't offer a solution, so I switched providers.
Even though that policy was paid out (minus the bogus addition), I got another bill, a reinstatement request, and a bill for reinstating the policy. Eventually, the reinstatement was sent to collections, as I did not request it.
This has been a pain, seeing as the entire ordeal was over a feature that they didn't have a problem adding to my policy, but would make me jump through hoops to have it removed when telling them I never requested it.
