I recently purchased an auto policy through Nationwide. 2 days later, I bought a new car and wanted full coverage, and removed the old car.
I found a much cheaper policy less than a month after becoming a Nationwide customer. I had already been charged fees to change the policy from liability to full coverage, so imagine my surprise when I was told I would owe an additional fee of 21.00 dollars, even though I was cancelling less than a month into the policy.
I was told that this was a charge because I had elected to make monthly payments. If I had paid in full, I would be gettting a refund, because no balance would have been due. Either way, I would still owe cancellation fees.
The person that I talked to said that my agent should have explained all of this at the time I signed the contract. Of course, on line has no agent to do that.
Just another way they get your money. I'm glad I made the switch. They are unethical.
