"Reid" (salesperson) and "Mark" (deal closer) of Tustin Toyota sold me a used 2000 Toyota 4Runner on 2/28. The dealer told me that the car had NEVER been in any accident, that it had NO body repairs and that it has NOT been re-painted. Tustin Toyota also supported their claims by providing me with a falsified "Carfax" report.
I agreed to a price based on the value of a vehicle that had NOT been damaged. I paid for a vehicle that had NOT been damaged. The vehicle I received has had 5 body panels repaired or replaced and repainted (as documented by a third party auto body facility). These panels are all on the right rear of the vehicle.
Furthermore, I am financing the vehicle and am still paying interest on a vehicle that is not what I paid for, as the principle amount should be less, so should the interest (both already paid and continually accruing).
I have contacted the dealer and for the past 7 weeks have been trying to agree upon a reasonable solution. I won't bore anyone with the particulars of all the times they said that they would call me and failed to do so, as I anticipated to have to call them anyway. Anyone dealing with this dealership can expect them not to return any calls, as they don't.
While Tustin Toyota does agree that this situation occurred, they (GSM "Bob" in particular) are not willing to settle reasonably. They have offered "free service", like I am going to take my vehicle to them after all of this! Multiple resources can affirm that the diminished value of my vehicle is up to $7,800.00. Tustin Toyota has knowingly defrauded both myself (thousands of dollars) and the lending institution (by appraising a vehicle for more than it is worth and making false claims about it) in order to increase profits. It is important for all to know that I asked the dealer, prior to signing any paperwork, whether or not this vehicle had been repaired, as I did not want, nor do I want a vehicle that has had body repairs done.
When it comes down to it, Tustin Toyota LIES, SELLS DAMAGED GOODS and DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.
