I bought my Saab 95 new in 2003 on recommendation from my husband who has owned three in the past. We were very satisfied with the warranty/recall work that was performed, however we experienced an electrical meltdown in the lower ignition module in May, burning out the starter and almost causing a fire. The vehicle has only 23,000 miles and has been maintained as new.
We were obliged to have the car towed to a local foreign car repair facility, and they found the lower ign. Module defective and ordered a new part from Saab. We were still having starting issues, and thus took it to Devoe Saab and they stated that the Saab part is under warranty regardless of who replaced it, if sourced from Saab. They proceeded to install a new part, then came to me in the waiting room and said it was an "aftermarket" part and we were charged $441.60 with labor additional. We contacted Till's Service and they sent a letter stating that the defective part came from Saab and bears the markings. We wonder what is going on??? Does Saab have different part numbers for this unit??? Should this part be failing after so few miles??? Why did the service consultant lie to me, especially after seeing the Till's repair bill with the part number noted thereon???
To add insult to injury, when the female service rep came to my husband in the waiting room and gave him the service invoice she stated that the repair had been billed by the service representative, Ron Jensen who was at lunch and gave him the keys stating that he did not need to go to the cashier. My husband has previously settled the repair bill at Mr. Jensen's service cubicle, so he saw nothing irregular about this.
Just after he left the facility, I received a rude, almost screaming call from a female employee who apparently does not have the advantage of a proper education stating that my husband "beat it away without paying" and she would be calling the authorities.
We consider this entire mess an abominable breach of proper business practices, and if we now will attempt to sell the car, which we planned to keep for some time as we do not have ANY confidence in this dealer's services.
