Saab company recalled car for defective, unsafe parts, won't reimurse for repairs

I owned a 2001 9-5 Saab Wagon.

The car broke down on me several times. Twice it broke down in the middle of traffic and had to be towed to the dealership. It had to have a new transmission when it still had under 50K miles. Thank God THAT happened 'under warranty'.

Twice the DI Cassettes failed, resulting in repairs of close to $800, plus car rental and towing charges. Around this time, I received a notice from Saab that the DI Cassettes in some of these cars were defective and could cause the car to break down. They stated they would be recalling those defective parts but the date they provide (March) was not for another 6 months or so, therefore forcing consumers to drive these unsafe cars until the recall happened. The recall finally went into effect in March but by then the car had broken down on me more than twice and I had had to trade it in on a car that worked (a Honda!). Now I have been trying to get reimursed for the repairs and have been working with the Saab customer service center in Georgia. I have sent records for everything but they are demanding 'original receipts' which I no longer have nor can my bank provide. However, I have sent bank statements showing the money paid to the Saab dealership, as well as the original repair records from the authorized Saab dealership that did the repairs, and furthermore my bank wrote a letter showing which charges were cleared from my account and when. I paid by debit card so no 'canceled checks' are available which is something else they are asking for!

This is ridiculous - I took a huge financial hit with this car as it was expensive and when I traded it in I took a big loss. I am out nearly $1,000 of additional money thanks to the DEFECTIVE parts, and during that entire time I had to subject myself to driving a car which Saab knew could break down at any minute. And yet Saab has not processed my claims for reimbursement claiming inadequate records.

Rip off — and shame on saab!!!
