On the Highway to H

I got my car on February 20 and it has been downhill from there. The day after I got my car, the check engine light came on. I took it back up there, and they hooked a small computer up to it, hit a few buttons, and the light went off. Dean, the mechanic, stated that I just need to ensure that I don't put cheap gas in my car. I said ok, and went about my day. Everything was going good for about two months. My a/c then went out. I took it back to the dealership and Steve, Dean's assistant, said, "No problem, I'll just fill up your freon for you at no charge." I said ok. The a/c went back to blowing snowballs.

Here comes hot as hell June. My a/c goes out again. My check engine had been coming on and going off on a regular basis by now, but I was told that it did that when I got cheap gas. I had been using Wal'Mart gas, so I figured it was okay. My car starts to overheat a little. I took my car back to the dealership and they were closed. This was 3:30 in the afternoon! I came back the next day and spoke with Steve. He said that I would need to leave my car for a day or two so that they could find out why my a/c was leaking. He did the same thing Dean did when it came to my check engine light, and Steve stated that the increase in motor tempurature was due to the extreme heat. I said ok. Once again and went about my business.

My car started getting a little above the halfway mark on the temp. Gauge. Iwas ensuring that I had enough water in my car to keep from damaging the motor or radiator.

Then comes the end of July. My car by this time had been going haywire. I took it back to the dealership and Steve said once again that it was just hot and the temp gauge was going to be a little elevated. He said that it was normal. I said ok.

August 20th comes and I was on the tollway trying to pay at the toll booth when I hear this loud clacking noise. I asked the lady at the toll counter what that noise was, and she said, "Ma'am, that's your car." I got hysterical and then my car just cut off. No warning signs, no warning lights, no nothing. It just cut off. I sat there for a minute trying to figure out whether to call the dealership again or to just take it to another mechanic. After a couple of minutes, I went to crank it, and it cranked right up, with no noise. I drove off of the toll bridge to Tom Thumb to make sure that I had water and oil in my car. Both were fine. I didn't understand. So I started back on my way back to the office.

On my way back to the office, my car started to overheat a little. The temp. Gauge bounced between 1/2 and 3/4 until I reached my destination (about 10 minutes) I got to the office and the temp gauge went back down. I thought maybe it was the heat. I called a couple of mechanics and they told me that it sounded like the thermostat. So, on my way home, I stopped at Auto Zone for a thermostat. After leaving Auto Zone, I was traveling on the freeway when my car cut off again while I was driving 70 mph. As soon as I got off of the road, my car started smoking profusely. A Dallas County Sheriff pull over to help me and I told him what had happened. He asked me if I had the thermostat and I said yes. He said that he would change it, but when he took off the thermostat housing thing, THERE WAS NO THERMOSTAT!

By this time I was irate. He went ahead and put the thermostat in. I started down the highway and my car started smoking again. He pulled over to help me again and noticed that the hose was broken. He took me to Auto Zone for a hose, he changed the hose and I went about my way. Twenty minutes into the drive, my car cuts off again. I let it cruise for about 2 miles because I couldn't get off the highway. When I stopped, I saw steam coming from under the hood. A mechanic, Luis, stopped to help. I told him that I was almost home. He checked the radiator and there was no water. He filled the radiator up with water and again I was on my way.

The next morning, I took the car to the dealership and was telling Dean what happened. He said that I needed a radiator and that mine was busted. I said okay and asked how much it was. He said my "half" was $217. I said that I couldn't pay that much to get it fixed especially when it didn't have a thermostat in it in the first place. Dean started yelling at me and stated that they don't "half-ass" do their jobs. He said for me to talk to Larry, the guy who sold me the car. On going to speak with Larry, he backed Dean up all the way and said that I was yelling at Dean. I told him that Dean was lying and Larry told me that all I could do was to let them fix it for the price I was quoted. I got mad and stormed out.

I called Luis and told him that I needed a radiator. Luis came out and upon fixing the radiator, found that the radiator sensor line had been cut (to keep the warning light from coming on when the radiator is low in water), there was stop leak and block sealant in the radiator, and the wrong battery was in the car. On top of that, water was leaking out of my tailpipe and my engine was damaged. I called the dealership, and they said that it was all my fault and that I needed to bring the car in for them to repair and I would still have to pay half.

I NEED HELP! I can't turn it in since it will show as a reposession, I can't trade it somewhere else because I will be upside down by about $6K, and I can't burn it since I only have liability insurance.

Do not go to these people for any reason!!! They are evil! They will have you ready to go for the highway to h*ll!!!
