Please do not fall for the Just Brakes "way". I am an ex-store manager from the Memphis TN market area. I was fired for non production in sales for being too honest with customers. I passed their technical training school, and managers certification school. I can tell you that this company is out to maximize the dollar figure on every ticket that they write.in
nine months with the company; I never saw a shop foreman suggest only the 99.88 friction reline. I have seen estimates as high as $1500.00 on a 2000 model vehicle with no more than normal miles. Some examples: a 2001 Mustang with 20k miles estimate of nearly $500.2000 Ford Customized van ticket sold for $1200 to elderly owner, ticket included new front wheel bearings which were sold to customer with the rotors still on the vehicle (could the shop foreman see through the rotors to check the wear on the bearings).
They will use terms such as dangerous, or this is a safety issue, to sell services, especially to women or the elderly. Do not be taken..
Certain items (all high profit items) are pushed. Examples: pad shims $29.95 cost $6.50... Caliper rebuild $98-108 cost of kit is $7-10 plus 20 minutes labor. Disc brake hardware $39.99 cost $7-8. Others: return springs, phenolic caliper pistons, wheel bearings, wheel cylinders. If you must go to Just Brakes; demand to see the parts that they suggest, but remember... It is easy to deceive you... The guy in the white shirt has been trained
to do it. I was one.
They have corporate employees who come from H.Q. To instruct store personnel in becoming more effective rip offs. They will talk about family members who were killed due to faulty brakes (all B.S.) use every trick in the book to harrass, frighten, and bully customers into buying more services. And this is corporate training. Watch yourself if you take a car into one of their shops.
