Took my 2001 Ford F-150 to Just Brakes yesterday to have the brakes fixed, at 8:00 am. At 2:00 pm we called the shop to see if the truck was being worked on, and they said that it was next in line.
At 5:00 pm the shop called us to talk through the repairs that "needed" to be made. We were quoted $968.00 for the following:
Two "new" rotors, machining the other two rotors, two reconditioned calipers, two caliper pistons, disc hardware, front bearings, grease seals, bleed fill and adjust brake system.
We told them to put the wheels back on the truck and that we would be taking it elsewhere. One month earlier we handed out $400 for our 2002 Chevy Cavalier to have all four brakes redone at Just Brakes.
I'm not a mechanic, but I know when I'm being screwed over. We called another brake retailer and they said that they could do the same work for $400 - $500... Basically what we had expected to pay at Just Brakes.
The man at the counter was very rude when we went to pick up the truck, we will never go there again, in a million years. Starting to wonder if they actually did any work on the Cavalier!
Buyer beware, be smart when you take your vehicle to the mechanic. If it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't! I would love to see this repair shop secretly investigated and catch them in the act of scamming their customers!
