I went to the Jiffy Lube on Montfort st.in Dallas, Tx. I had just bought a fuel filter and wanted them to install it. I asked the manager what the cost would be and he stated 20.00 because I delivered auto parts in the area and the businesses all pretty much saw me around or I had delivered to them before. The young black guy asked me a number of times if I wanted an oil and oil filter change and I told him no each time and even told him that I do that myself and have for many years... Just the fuel filter installed I said and I knew that I just changed the oil and filter a couple of days before and also had a muffler converter installed at a muffler shop which I just had him re-check it not more than hour before and everything looked fine. So I was at the Jiffy lube for some time while waiting for the fuel filter to be changed and was wondering what could be taking so long. I was waiting just outside the bay door and after about an hour the crook of a mechanic came from under my truck and stated that he was finished. I handed him the 20.00 and was on my way. My truck is very important to me as that is how I earn a living by making my deliveries. The next day while making my deliveries I smelled something burning and my truck was smoking underneath. (Now remember... When I was at the muffler shop we had the truck raised to check the muffler after I changed my oil and filter a couple of days before and everything was dry and tight.) Well when I got into my garage at home and looked underneath... Oil was everywhere. I was pissed. I went down to the Walmart and bought another 5 quarts of oil and another filter... Went back to my garage and totaly washed under my truck using about a dozen rags and towels. When I turned the drain plug is was real loose and the filter was very loose as well. He just couldn't install the fuel filter as I asked... He had to loosen the oil plug and filter for to try to make an extra sale. I could have burned my engine up because of his actions and would have had no way to earn money or get to work. It's crooked businesses like this that cause consumers big problems. They should be shut down. I passed by there a couple of times and saw that there are a number of mechanics just hanging around and no vehicles in any of the bays and now I know why.
