Longo Toyota
Damaged my Car - Liars

This is an old claim but I only recently found this site. Had a recall on my head gasket for a Toyota pickup v6. I had over 100,000 miles so I figured a free head gasket change (I had no problems with my truck at the time). I get it back and in their parking lot, the truck shuts off. I start it again and drive home. 3/4 of the way home, the truck shuts off again, while I'm driving. Start it up and I call Longo as soon as I get home. I have to make another appointment now. I borrowed my friends timing light and find the timing is set wrong. I correct it using the figures from my trusty Toyota Service Manual. I did not cancel my appointment because when I did correct the timing, the truck is now making a loud tapping noise from the valves. Did they lower the timing to hide the tapping noise? I take it in and they tell me the valves need adjusting so I schedule an appointment about 2 weeks later because I needed my truck and they would not pay for a truck rental. I go back and they tell me it'll take them 1 day. After the 3rd day and no callback, I call them (I'm paying for a rental). They tell me that it's not finished and they're really busy, they did however cover the rental charges for the inconvenience. The next day, I get a call from them and they tell me to come in and that they ran into some problems, they wouldn't tell me over the phone. I get there and they tell me that the engine is severely damaged, requires a full rebuild and gave me a quote over $2000.00 Then they started on some bullshit about the last guy that worked on it didn't put it back together correctly and before they finished I told them "that was you!" They refused to fix it and I had to speak with the service manager who told me lie after lie after lie. The biggest lie was when he told me that the overhead cams and valves are nowhere near the head gasket and therefore they never went near it. According to them, the entire upper assembly needed to be replaced. We argued for awhile and the service manager wouldn't budge. I told him to give me back my truck and they would not release it. Apparently, I had to pay for the service of taking it apart. We argued some more and I paid $50 to get it out of "impound." I get home and immediately call Toyota Corp Office who had the $50 charge reversed. They however could not do anything for the damage to the truck, I had to deal with Longo on that one. After many months with no resolution, I receive a letter with a copy of the repairs that had a statement that said the truck was severely damaged prior to me bringing it in. What!!! Unfortunately, I went looking for the original receipt with the intent of getting an attorney but I could not find it. I had lost the major evidence I had that they totally screwed me. To make matters worse, my truck that had no problems going in, started leaking oil from the head gasket almost 1 year to the day this entire thing happened.

Lesson here, don't fix it if it ain't broke and never do business with Longo Toyota.
