Carmax
Lied, misleading, bait and switch, money hustlers, fast talkers, faulty business practice

I made an appointment via online to check out a used vehicle and also take it for a test drive. I was told by an internet sales rep that that the vehicle in question was going to be tagged and not aloowed to leave the lot til after my appointment. When I got to Carmax they too me out to the car and proceeded to tke me on a test drive. Once in the vehicle I noticed it was not the same one I inquired about online and it was about $3,000 more than the one i looked at. I salesmen proceeded to to let me test drive this car and upon returning the car I was suppose to look at was somehow missing from the lot. They had no notes of it being on a test drive nor any notes of my appointment to check it out or even if it was sold, the car was just gone.

I purchased the vehicle I test drove since it was newer and had less miles on it etc. I spent almost 4 hours there dealing with paperwork and other issues. After the 3rd hour I said forget it I wil take my money elsewhere cause it was taking way to long and I had way to many people working on my paper work and nothing was getting done. At that point they pushed all my paperwork through and took out to the car for a walk through and a walk around. I was told f the 125 point inspection they do and it was noted that the back seat a/c controls was loose and I could have them fix it the next day at not cost. They did not even fill the cas tank upon purchase which most dealers do to make sure there customers are satisfied.

3 days of having this car and about 25 miles later the check engine light cam on. I called carmax and made an appointment to bring the car back. They called me 3 hours after leaving my car with them and they told me I need not only a new gas cap but a vapor return hose and a leak detection sensor. It was about $500 worth of work. Thank god I purchased there maxcare warrenty but I did not have to use it since the car was still under there limited warrenty.

Two months later I called to make an apointment for a routine oil change as suggested, I also asked if they could check why the front end was making a squeeking noise when going over bumps. I was told it would cost me $80 for the check and report along with the oil change but I was under the impression this was all under the maxcare program and should not cost me a thing. I was waiting for the my car in there service lobby when after 4 hours they call me on my cell phone stating I need some major work done that would run around $600. Here it is I just made my 2nd car payment and this will be the 2nd time my car had to be left overnight for work that should have been checked out when they did there so called 125 point inspection.

This time around I need a new transmission oil pan gasket and new lower ball joints on the front wheels. I made a comment that based off there paperwork that these where items that are listed under the 125 point inspection sheet and the service guy just looked at me like a deer in headlights. Not only did they not offer me a loaner like they did the 1st I ws told under the maxcare program I had to get my own rental and they would reimburse me $25 a day for the cost of the rental.

After getting my car back once again no one had a word to say about the 125 point inspection and how this was not noticed befor saling the car but I also found out that my wheels could have fallen off and killed me. Upon returning home I checked out the Dodge home office web site and noticed 400 plus people have complained about faulty upper and lower ball joints on this vehicle and also got info from Dodge that there is a recall on the upper ball joints. Now carmax should have known that and all they did was repair the lower joints pretty much leaving the upper joints to possibly fall off. At this point I am ging to call Carmax and ask about them doing the recall work for the upper joints and also file a consumer complaint with the Buraul of Automotive Repair. Fixing the lower joints and not the upper joints is like chainging brake pads and not turning the brake rotors... What the F - is Carmax doing?
